100% BIODEGRADABLE DRINKING STRAWS
The science-tech tackle key project -- PLA biodegradable drinking straws, started to produce in 2005, through several years' efforts, we have made great achievements. On the premise that guaranteed the unchanged product features, we have developed a variety of drinking straws, which physical properties are increasingly improving, its appearance and function are very close to the drinking straws made from polypropylene, own the good luster and transparency, also have the merits of safety, hygiene and antisepsis.
Owing to the materials of PLA drinking straws derived from starch of plants, the matrix materials have a wide range of resources. Under the condition of high price of crude oil and depleted petroleum reserve, PLA drinking straws boast the significant advantages of protecting environment and also have obvious social benefits, which will substitute traditional polypropylene drinking straws step by step in the near future.
MATERIAL DECOMPOSITION OF BIODEGRADABLE DRINKING STRAWS
The biodegradable material is a kind of polymer made from renewable natural resources like microorganism, plant and animal by taking natural macromolecule or polyester as matrix, so this kind of biodegradable drinking straw cannot be decomposed under normal atmospheric environment and in warehouse, only be decomposed into H20 and C02 by microorganism under sufficient humidity and oxygen, proper microorganism condition as well under the environment of natural burial and compost within 20-45 days.
There are two phases of decomposition of biodegradable drinking straws: After hydrolyzed, then decomposed by microorganism. Firstly hydrolyze under the natural environment, then microorganisms enter into tissue to decompose and oxidize into carbon and water. Under the condition of compost (high temperature and humidity), hydrolysis can be easy and fast. In the environment where not easy to be hydrolyzed, the process follows in order and advances step by step, and the cycle of decomposition will be prolonged accordingly.
